I called Jeremy today to discuss the generator options, and he was very supportive of my choice of a Generac 8kW standby generator. I ordered it and it should arrive by the time Jeremy is ready to do the electrical install, thus simplifying and streamlining the whole setup. We intend to have the generator available to power just the essential household circuits in the event of a power failure. It will produce over 60 amps (8000 watts divided by 120 volts...Ohm's law) and that should be more than sufficient since heating is propane and cooling is seldom required.
